Congregation Simchat Yisrael has been established to foster an environment where Jewish couples, intermarried families and Jewish individuals can worship the God of Israel and his promised Messiah as Jews. We also recognize that those from among the nations who have a special call may wish to call our synagogue home. Our desire is to offer membership to all such individuals and families who wish to be a part of our community.
All visitors to our congregation are welcome to worship with us. We offer Torah Club Classes for non-Jewish visitors who belong to a church but would like to establish a connection with the Jewish roots of our faith. This is a high quality program that provides insightful commentary on substantive biblical issues. You can attend a class as an individual or bring the Torah Club to your church community.
Every community provides a way for those who desire to enter it. Below are a list of classes and requirements we ask all prospective members and returning visitors to engage in. After attending Simchat for a month or so people begin to get a feel for our community and often have questions. We ask all who attend our synagogue for a month or more to enroll in an orientation class. This class will give you an opportunity to ask basic questions about our synagogue and our beliefs. After that you may begin taking the educational classes listed below.
Jewish intermarried couples and Jewish individuals or those seeking conversation who wish to become members will also be sent a questionnaire which will cover questions about their past faith experiences and issues concerning their desire to be a member in our Synagogue.
The Following Criteria & Classes Will Need To Be Completed To Become A Member.
1. Faithful attendance for at least 12 months.
2. Covenant & Constitution Course (2 Weeks)
3. Liturgy Course (2 Weeks)
4. Synagogue Life Course (1 Week)
5. Hebrew Class (8 Weeks)
6. Read Required Materials
7. Interview With The Membership Board
We realize these requirements may seem strict or cumbersome. Simchat Yisrael desires that all our members understand what it means to be part of a Messianic Jewish Community. By making the requirements thorough we ensure that goal will be achieved.
We have many people who attend regularly who are not members. They find great joy in our worship and share many of our values. As stated previously Non-members are always welcome at our Synagogue. Every week people visit and are made to feel welcome. Please accept our invitation to come and visit us this week. Who knows maybe one day you might want to be a member!
