Congregation Simchat Yisrael Is More Than Worship On Shabbat. We have several programs that aid the community. New Clothing For A New Start
This program helps battered women get back on their feet. Once out of the abusive situation they need to find employment. Often they have no clothing suitable. Simchat Yisrael has contacted several retail stores concerning this issue. The stores have agreed to make monthly or quarterly donations of Brand New Clothing and Simchat Yisrael facilitates the process. Over the last five years we have given away well over $1,000,000 in Brand New Clothing to battered woman in need. If you’re a store owner in Ct or if you want to help find a store owner to help us in this cause
Read to Grow is a Connecticut nonprofit that builds children's literacy beginning at birth. We are the only statewide organization that connects with parents in the hospital setting and prepares them to take an active role in their child's literacy development from day one. Over the last six years we have given over 3000 books to the READ to Grow program. Help us end childhood illiteracy in New Haven county. Food For All Who Need It
Each year many people go hungry. But thanks to our synagogue members and L.A.U.N.C.H. Teens we have helped to decrease that number in New Haven. Each year we are one of the top food providers to the Westville Jewish Family Service Food Bank. If you have some nonperishable items you would like to donate please contact us. We will come by to get it. (All Pick Ups Must Be At Least One Grocery Bag Full). So if you would like to make a difference and help feed some people in need just click on the picture or give us a call.
